Bienvenidos a Las Casas de Filipinas de Acuzar! Don't you just love the Spanish language?!? It's so very elegant. I wish I can speak it fluently. Unfortunately, my 20% Spanish blood didn't kick in and my parents didn't think of letting us study in schools with language classes.. And well, I was super lazy to take language classes in college. Hahaha Anyway, Las Casas de Filipinas de Acuzar is a heritage resort in Bagac, Bataan. If you're coming from Manila, it would probably take you around 2 1/2 to 3 hours to reach it. Also, please take note that the place is not in the main highway so better check their website on how you can reach it. Just a backgrounder, the houses that are in Las Casas are either a replica or a re-assembled version of the different Spanish houses in the country. Mt. Pinatubo has always brought bad memories. Not because my family was affected by  its explosion in the 90's but because the last time I went there, I had a hard time walking for a few days because of the trekking. And we did not even reached the peak at that time. So when I was invited to climb Mt. Pinatubo's crater by my officemates, my first question was: "Mag-trekking ba tayo mula sa baba?". This is a make or break question for me because I hate doing physical activities that involve running, walking (let me qualify this as super duper long walks) and exercising. When my officemate said that we would ride a 4 wheel drive  three-fourths of the way and walk only for 30 minutes, I said YES right away. How can you say no to seeing Pinatubo's crater? This was probably the short vacation that I deserve..or not! hahaha. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it immensely. Despite the awkwardness and the issues that arose while we there, it had been really a much needed escape for me at that time (I skipped working on my school papers and my office backlogs for this!!). Cagbalate island is a one hour boat ride from Mauban, Quezon. How did we found out about it? You should probably ask my friend. I just showed up at the bus station at 5 am and off we go to to Quezon. Upon arriving at the "port" of Cagbalate, we had to walk for 30 minutes. We could have taken a boat, but decided to start the Lenten season early and walk under the scorching heat of the sun. I could have killed the person who made me walk, but I would rather enjoy the day. We stayed in Villa Cleofas. They actually have cottages and rooms there.
