Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar

Bienvenidos a Las Casas de Filipinas de Acuzar!

Don't you just love the Spanish language?!? It's so very elegant. I wish I can speak it fluently. Unfortunately, my 20% Spanish blood didn't kick in and my parents didn't think of letting us study in schools with language classes.. And well, I was super lazy to take language classes in college. Hahaha

Anyway, Las Casas de Filipinas de Acuzar is a heritage resort in Bagac, Bataan. If you're coming from Manila, it would probably take you around 2 1/2 to 3 hours to reach it. Also, please take note that the place is not in the main highway so better check their website on how you can reach it.

Just a backgrounder, the houses that are in Las Casas are either a replica or a re-assembled version of the different Spanish houses in the country. If I'm not mistaken, the owner of the resort actually buys the original structure (if it is standing) and transport it to Bagac wherein it will be rebuilt "brick by brick" and "plank by plank".

The place was supposed to be a private area however the owner decided to open it the public. Maybe because of the gazillion of money the owner spent reconstructing and transporting these houses to Bataan or the owner is just too giddy to share his/her collection.  Most of the houses can actually be rented for a night or two. The hotels and houses are a bit expensive but the rooms are spacious For day trippers, they offer different packages and options like entrance only (P650), entrance with meals, and entrance with snacks only. In addition, they also rent out kalesas, golf carts and bikes for people who doesn't like walking while touring. They also have a pool that can also be used by the guests.

Las Casas very much reminds me of the charm of Vigan. Walking on the brick road and checking out the houses really brings you back to the Spanish era. Also, partly growing up in a Spanish-inspired house, I have formed a great affection for old houses.

For people who thinks Vigan is so far away, I would recommend Las Casas as an alternative. However, aside from picture-taking, swimming and eating, the activities in the resort is very limited. I just hope that since they are still developing the area, they would add more activities and amenities the guests can enjoy.

And so as I end this blog, let me share to you some pictures of me and my family as we enjoyed our trip back to the past.

It has always been my frustration that I did not develop superb skills in playing the piano despite my many years of training. hahahaha

According to known personality, Daphne Osena-Paez, the building named Casa Quiapo, where this photo was taken, was actually the original UP School of Fine Arts.
