Sawa Dee Kah Bangkok!!

I planned to write a post about my trip to Bangkok last December. But then, office reports started piling up, school papers had to be prioritized and other writing assignment (slash other jobs) had to be finished. Thus, I decided to take a hiatus in writing in this little corner.

However, I decided to finally finish this Bangkok post so I can officially close down 2013 (yes, I am 3 weeks delayed). Bangkok was my last country for 2013. Why? Well, I already used up all my travel money (being in two other countries and all).

Anyway, I've been to Bangkok twice already and yet, I still can't get enough of this awesome city. Almost everything is very cheap...the food, the hotels, the merchandise. Literally, everything!!

Every time my family and I go to Bangkok, we stay in Baiyoke Suite. However, as Yani (my friend) and I are pretty much on a budget, we stayed in Baiyoke Boutique which is just a few meters away from the Baiyoke Suite and the Baiyoke Sky. I have always love the Baiyoke hotels because they are located in the Pratunam area, which is basically the Divisoria of Bangkok. Anyway, we booked a deluxe room for our stay but when we arrived, we were told that we have been upgraded to a suite for no extra charge. Lucky us!

On our first day, we went on a tour of the Grand Palace and Emerald Buddah. The Grand Palace is a complex of buildings. This complex used to be the residence of the Kings of Thailand. Even though, the current King is residing in a different palace, the Grand Palace is still used for Official Events.

Phra Thinang Chakri Maha Prasat

Wat Phra Si Rattanasasadaram or more commonly called as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha is a temple built to house a Buddha image made of jade. The Temple was built as a temple for the royal family's use and not to house the monks. The Buddha's clothes is changed according to the season and it is only the King who is allowed to change the clothes of the Buddha. Picture taking inside the temple is prohibited but picture in the facade is okay.

On our second day, we left Bangkok early for our floating market experience. Nothing much to do on the floating market but still took this tour option because it was cheaper and I have never been there. Yani was also craving for sticky rice and mangoes and we think the floating market was the place to be.

The in between of the tours were mostly spent on the streets, either shopping or eating. What else would we do, right?!?

Anyway, the trip was really a good way to end my tumultuous 2013. The start of 2014 is still shaky and shady for me but I hope that as the days progress, it's going to be brighter and better. And, as I enter 2014 (and enter my 26th year as a human being), I am eager to start on my new adventures, explore new places, meet amazing people and find that one true love.
