Dots Dots Polka Dots

When most of the team were starting to leave the office for better opportunities..and some of us were not being renewed (that would be me) anymore, we all decided that we would see each other at least once a month to catch up. This was also our way of saying that despite working on different companies already, the friendship remains.


This is probably the third team party..and the first I have ever attended. And because it's the start of the year and the first party for 2013, the theme was polka dots.


 There were lots of food that made our tummies oh-so happy..stories that made us reminisce, smile and cringe..and antics that made us all laugh so hard.




 There were games and prizes courtesy of Ate Cha and Ate Amor, respectively. The grand prize was the Ray Ban which we all wanted to win badly. However, there can only be one winner and she was....Mel!!


Personally speaking, seeing these people had been a very good stress buster for me. I am in a lot of pressure from work and school lately that it's starting to feel like I have no social life. This party was a great reminder that I still have one and if I just make an effort, I would continue to have a social life.


And I am also very thankful that even though my stint with the team only lasted six months, they had been the best group of workmates one could ever have. I don't consider this people as just former workmates, I consider them as one of my families. It's not perfect, but it's close to it.

The Jakarta trip was probably one of the most tiresome international travel I had to take despite all the convenience we were provided. For one, the trip was mostly spent working. We were either in meetings with our Indonesian partners or we were in the conference facilitating workshops and doing logistical work. Adding to the stress of the conference, I had to endure stomach problems and a fever during the first few days. Thankfully, the conference was a success despite all the roadblocks and I felt better by the start of the conference.  I would no longer give general information about Jakarta because you'll see that in the internet anyway. Seven Falls, Lake Sebu

Honestly, this is one work trip that I particularly hated. Not that I don't like South Cotabato (I'm actually in love with Mindanao and its provinces), but I had to go through a lot of shit just to make  this trip happen.  Anyway, to probably appease everyone's annoyance for being sent in a training in the middle of a very busy month, we were actually allowed to go to Lake Sebu. Lake Sebu is a one and a half drive from Koronadal (Marbel) and is home to the T'boli tribe. One of South Cotabato's attraction is the Seven Falls which is found in Barangay Siloton in Lake Sebu.  From General Santos, one can take a bus (Yellow Bus Line) to Koronadal (Marbel) then a van to Lake Sebu. Another option would be to ride a bus going to Surallah and then ride a jeepney to Lake Sebu The first Falls is the Hikong Alo which is the widest and the easiest to reach of all the Seven Lakes. The Island called Bantayan

I have always loved Cebu. Their beautiful beaches and their scrumptious food always brings me back to this beautiful group of islands in the South.  I have been to Gilutungan and Nalusuan countless times and enjoyed every minute I was there. But the chance to go to Bantayan, Malapascua and Camotes seems to elude me. So when we were told that we would be doing some fieldwork in Bantayan, the kids (this means the team members whose below the age of 40) were very ecstatic. To reach Bantayan, one needs to ride a ferry from the Hagnaya port which is located in the Municipality of San Remigio (a three hour bus ride from Cebu City).  The ferries from the Hagnaya port to the Sta. Fe port is not as nice as the ones travelling from Cebu City to Tagbilaran, Bohol. However, for P170.00/pax and for a one hour and a half boat ride, I think this was okay.
