On moving up and moving on...

School year 2010-2011 ended last night with the school's Moving Up Program. The night was magical. The little boys were in tuxedo while the little girls were in their gowns. Medals, trophies and certificates were handed to the children as their parents beamed with pride.

Last night also marked my last day in my first work. By next week, I would be tying loose ends and would be leaving to see other (or better) opportunities.

My first set of students also graduated last night. There were only four of them, but they were a handful. They have different endearing qualities as well as annoying qualities. But I love them all the same. They made everyday fun and enjoyable. They'll be moving up to the elementary level. A whole different ball game if you ask me. Tantrums wouldn't work anymore.

The school year wasn't easy. We had a lot of ups and downs. We had funny, sad and tense moments. There were days that I get excited to go to work. There were days that its a struggle to rise from the bed because I know something is going to happen. But amidst all the problems, I know the kids and all the teachers had grown and became a better person. I know I have. I developed more patience and understanding. Being with them also taught me to enjoy little things. And these kids had really shown me that BIG THINGS COME IN SMALL PACKAGES.

To all the students I had the pleasure to meet and teach this school year, THANK YOU! It had been an awesome year. I know that I would bring everything you have taught me in my next journey. I hope one day I'll be able to see you again. I wish that all your dreams come true. Just remember that we love you very much.
